I am using OS X 10.6 plus Mail v4.0. I get a crash every time I attach anything. Cant's find any old copies of Mail…

So I bought POwermail for $50… and that crashes too when I attach anything.

Been using Mac's for 25 years and never had such unreliability.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh . That was exactly my problem !! Two Mail applications in the same Applications folder !
Deleted the old one and ... it now loads all the attachments ok !!

Apple released a fix that actually FIXES the issue. (I've tried purging configuration and reinstalling the 10.5.6 combo update neither of which worked.. I still have version 3.2 (919/930.3) )

Even after the updates, my Mail app is “Version 3.0 (912.1/930.3)” — and there's no other Mail app copy on my system.
I'd like to know how I could manually get/install Mail 3.5 from somewhere…

My guess would be, that your preferences were lost. Try setting up the sounds again through the mail preference panel.

Hi, I have a Mail problem too after the update 10.5.6 – where are the cool sounds ? Plungg when receiving mail and the Whoooosh sound when sending mail ? I do not find them anymore ??

10.5.6 completely brought my Macbook to its knees. I installed it, then after reboot, it would not get past the blue screen. I had to connect it to another Mac in Target Disk Mode and delete a few files to get it to work. What a pain in the rear.
