I'm sure they delay packages. My package arrived at the sorting facility in Phoenix, AZ thursday afternoon, 5 pm. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is less than 3 hours from Phoenix. And could have arrived today, but it's scheduled for monday, which is the 3 business days I payed for.It went from Louisville, KY to Phoenix, AZ in one day, but it couldn't make it here. A few hours away. It's definitely their way of trying to convince you to pay for better shipping next time. But once, out of all the times I've ordered via UPS, about 20, was a package delivered earlier than the scheduled date. A business day earlier. I only payed for ground shipping, and even the notification on the tracking info said "early" instead of on time, and received my package a head of what they originally planned. That's the only time I praised UPS

Well UPS decides to hold it longer then needed then updates my tracker and says it's out for delivery (FINALLY!). 2 hours later they update my tracker back to arrival scan and are going to hold it till tomorrow WTF!!! that's just lazy!! FUCK UPS!!

However, nobody is explaining how the prioritization works! You are only describing an assembly line. We know that next day and 7-10 business days work differently. But how?

I also feel that it is silly for a package from NYC to take 7 days to get to Albany NY.

Somewhere that package is being either held back, put on a different vehicle, or something. What is happening?

to the OP. its because UPS does not ship on Saturdays. ive had this happen unfortunately for me if i order something on wednesday or thursday and the shipper uses UPS i dont get it until monday or tuesday (respectively)..

i had an order for NIke on saturday. and monday evening UPS picked it up, and its scheduled for early delivery today on thursday, so thats reasonable. they are always within 3 - 4 business days for me.

This is happening to me right now. It's about three hours away from Wichita in Lenexa, and it has been since 7am this morning. They haven't sent it out yet even though they could have, and so I won't get it until tomorrow. They could have at least brought it to my local store so I could pick it up myself. Kind of pointless and I feel like I'm really wasting my money when they won't do basic things to help keep their customers happy.

So are you saying that this type of behavior is justified?

I understand that you pay for the service you want. But if their delivery volume is low for a given period of time, and the package gets to where it is going ahead of time, then it is pretty crappy for them to hold onto it or unnecessarily ship it around its destination to make it look like they could not get it to its destination any earlier in an attempt to force people to pay for priority shipping.

Yes, they may have the legal "right" to hold onto a package that gets near its destination early, but that is a pretty shitty way to conduct business. I see paying for standard vs. priority shipping as a gamble; if I pay for priority I expect a package to get to me ASAP. But if I pay for standard, I understand that it could take longer, but if the shipping company is ahead of schedule, then I deserve to get the package early.

I'm not saying they have to do back flips to get it to me early with standard shipping, but they shouldn't hold packages that get to their destination early: it's a shitty way to conduct business.

As I see it, if I pay for standard shipping, I understand that it could take nearly a week to get to me. But if volume is low, and it gets near me sooner, then I should get it at that time.

FedEx and UPS can both blow me. I use USPS whenever I have the choice.

One last comment. I apologize for my fragmented thoughts but I'm still researching this as I type.

They moved the package over 300 miles, instead of just delivering it to me when the package was less than 100 miles away. Seems pretty fishy.

I have to amend my previous post.

Edgewood is not on Long Island, like I previously thought, but is IN UPSTATE NY!! WTF??!!

They took a package that was less than 100 miles away and moved it about 200 miles away. WTF?!!
