So are you saying that this type of behavior is justified?

I understand that you pay for the service you want. But if their delivery volume is low for a given period of time, and the package gets to where it is going ahead of time, then it is pretty crappy for them to hold onto it or unnecessarily ship it around its destination to make it look like they could not get it to its destination any earlier in an attempt to force people to pay for priority shipping.

Yes, they may have the legal "right" to hold onto a package that gets near its destination early, but that is a pretty shitty way to conduct business. I see paying for standard vs. priority shipping as a gamble; if I pay for priority I expect a package to get to me ASAP. But if I pay for standard, I understand that it could take longer, but if the shipping company is ahead of schedule, then I deserve to get the package early.

I'm not saying they have to do back flips to get it to me early with standard shipping, but they shouldn't hold packages that get to their destination early: it's a shitty way to conduct business.

As I see it, if I pay for standard shipping, I understand that it could take nearly a week to get to me. But if volume is low, and it gets near me sooner, then I should get it at that time.

FedEx and UPS can both blow me. I use USPS whenever I have the choice.

One last comment. I apologize for my fragmented thoughts but I'm still researching this as I type.

They moved the package over 300 miles, instead of just delivering it to me when the package was less than 100 miles away. Seems pretty fishy.

I have to amend my previous post.

Edgewood is not on Long Island, like I previously thought, but is IN UPSTATE NY!! WTF??!!

They took a package that was less than 100 miles away and moved it about 200 miles away. WTF?!!

Jen I just saw your post. Pretty much same thing happened to me.

I can't understand why a package that was originally close to your residence would be shipped FURTHER away. It makes no sense, unless like the OP alleged, they are intentionally punishing standard shippers into paying more for priority shipping.

I think you are onto something here.

I was tracking a package for which I requested standard shipping. The tracking shows the following information"

Feb 7 2012 Package received by dest MI facility Edgewood, NY
Feb 7 2012 Package transferred to dest MI facility Logan Township, NJ
Feb 6 2012 Package processed by Mail Innovations Logan Township, NJ
Feb 6 2012 Package received for processing Logan Township, NJ

The only problem is, I live in central NJ, and Logan Township is in southern NJ. So why would they move the package OVER my residence to Long Island, NY?? I am guessing they flew it there, but why, when it was already in my state? Does this make any sense whatsoever? WTF?

If you order a game from Gamestop just use regular mail. I bought the Battlefield 3 months before it came out in Oct. and the day it went on sale it arrived in my box! I was sooooo happy. They may have just sent it out from my nearest store, within 30 miles. Regular mail is faster and cheaper for small envelopes, packages.

I live so far out in the texas countryside that the driver told me they do not (less apostraphe's than don't) deliver on Saturdays even if I paid extra. Also, your use of double-conjunctions and first person faux-paux's made me cringe. Rookie mistakes, yet left unchecked can result in derailed sentences and later, possible death.

It is difficult to figure out their mysterious routing sometimes. And their routing is probably like routing on a LAN or a WAN -- if you don't have the proper routes set up, it could delay your packet/package. If an algorithm creates the route, there could be errors. My pet peeve is when tracking doesn't get updated on the weekends. Sometimes I will get a status on Friday and it won't update until mid-or-late Monday.

However, I would like to offer a note on constructive criticism. If you're going to have a respectable blog online, you should have an idea about how to write plurals of words. I am seeing a lot of misplaced apostrophes. You should absolutely never indicate the plural of a word by appending "apostrophe s" to the word. That construct denotes possession or a contraction of a word and "is". "Hours" and "days" are written as plurals just the way you see them at the beginning of this sentence.
